Importing CSV Files for Boards

Opal's CSV import capability allows users to create new boards using existing data in a CSV file. This feature can save users time when creating new boards, especially when working with a large amount of data.

The primary use case for CSV Import is bringing work into Opal from other platforms. This makes it easier to get everyone on the same page in Opal.

Here are the steps to import a CSV file:

  1. Upload your CSV file: From the Boards view in Opal, click on the "Import" button at the top of the page. Name your new Board, and select the CSV file you want to import.
  2. Choose the Collection Name Field: To associate Moments to different Collections, select which column value reflects the Collection name. Otherwise, select "Import all moments into one collection."
  3. Choose Moment Name Field: Select which column should be associated with the new Moment name.
  4. Map Remaining Fields: The remaining columns can now be mapped directly to system or custom column values. If you do not have custom columns created, connect with your Opal admin to create them.
  5. Preview and Import: Once all your fields are mapped, the system will display a preview, including the total number of records to be created. Select "Import and Create Board" to start importing your CSV.
  6. Reorganize Columns: Now that the Board is created, adjust your columns settings and order by using the Columns button at the top of the page.
