Importing CSV Files for Boards

Opal's CSV import capability allows users to create new boards using existing data in a CSV file. This feature can save users time when creating new boards, especially when working with a large amount of data.

Here are the steps to import a CSV file

  1. Download the import template: Opal provides a CSV template that you can download by clicking on the "Import" button at the top right of the Boards view. This template contains the exact column names that are supported for the import.
  2. Prepare your CSV file: Open the template in your preferred spreadsheet application and fill in the required fields, which are Collection Name, Moment Name, and Scheduled Date (optional). Each row should contain the information for a single moment that you want to add.
  3. Upload your CSV file: From the Boards view in Opal, click on the "Import" button at the top of the page. Then click on the "CSV" option and select the file you want to import. The import will only work if the CSV file matches the template you downloaded earlier.
  4. Create your board: Once the import is complete, Opal will create a new board (that you can name) based on the data in your CSV file. Opal will then create collections based on the Collection Name column in your CSV file.
  5. Review and edit your board: After your board has been created, you can review and edit the information for each moment. Unfortunately, it's not possible to upload another CSV file for the same board after it's been created. However, you can always manually add new moments to your board.

That's how easy Opal makes it! With the CSV import capability, you can quickly create new boards based on your existing data. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Opal support.
