Version History in Opal

Lee Dussinger Updated by Lee Dussinger

To streamline your workflow and provide a reliable safety net, we've introduced a robust Version History feature across all writing experiences in the platform. This feature allows you to view, compare, and restore previous versions of your work, ensuring no idea is ever lost and collaboration is always transparent.

This feature is available in the following places:

  1. In a Moment, when drafting long form content
  2. Outlining a campaign in the block of Plan
  3. Creating detailed briefing in the rich text section of Board

How-To Use Version History

To access Version History, click the clock icon - found in the right hand corner of the text section.

How to View and Restore a Previous Version
  1. Open the Version History panel.
  2. Click on any version in the list to preview it in the main editor window. The document will temporarily display the content from that selected time.
  3. To make this version the current one, click the Restore this version button (or a similar prompt). The current document will be updated, and this action itself will be saved as a new version, preserving the full history.
How to Compare Two Versions
  1. Open the Version History panel.
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the two versions you wish to compare.
  3. Click the Compare Selected button.
  4. The editor will display a comparison view. All text added between the older and newer version will be highlighted in green, and all text removed will be shown in red with a strikethrough. This makes it easy to spot every single change.
